Send and receive mail

All mail from the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority is digital. This means mail will be sent to your enterprise’s or your personal digital mailbox.

If you need to send anything to the Labour Inspection Authority for processing, you can use eDialog. You can use eDialog if you need to send us letters and documents in connection with a specific case, or if you have questions about a specific letter or a specific case.

Send letters and documents to us digitally

eDialog is a secure, digital channel you can use to send us letters and documents. Because it is secure, your documents do not need to be password protected before you send them.

Have a tip for the Labour Inspection Authority about unsafe or unlawful conditions? Submit your tip via our tip portal.

Have questions about working environment legislation? Contact us via telephone or chat. We do not offer guidance via e-mail or letter.

  • Select whether you are a private individual or representing an enterprise.
  • Enter your organisation number and click “Hent info”.
  • Title: Enter the name of the document you are sending. If you know the case number, add this as well. Include the phrase “til personvernombudet” in the title if you wish to communicate with the Labour Inspection Authority’s data protection officer.
  • Notes: Add a detailed description of what you are sending, if relevant.
  • Click “send forsendelse”.
  • You will receive a receipt with a reference number via e-mail.

You can send documents in most common file formats, such as PDF, Word, Excel, PNG and JPEG.

If your document is a Word document, select “Save as” and then file type PDF.

LibreOffice and OpenOffice have a dedicated button on the toolbar called “Export to PDF”.

Yes, you can. But e-mail is not a secure channel for personal data and sensitive information. That is why we recommend that you use eDialog.

If you have general questions about working environments and relevant legislation, we will not respond via e-mail. Contact us via telephone or chat instead.

Our e-mail address is post@arbeidstilsynet.no.

If you are using SvarUt/eFormidling on behalf of a public enterprise, you must use the Labour Inspection Authority’s organisation number: 974 761 211.

Find and respond to digital mail

If you have received an SMS or an e-mail with a notice that you have received mail from the Labour Inspection Authority, we have sent a letter to your enterprise’s digital mailbox. Download the letter (PDF) from your inbox in Altinn.

If you are a private individual and we have sent you a letter, you can find it in your digital mailbox, e.g. Digipost.

How to respond to digital letters

If you have questions about the letter, or if the letter has instructed you to submit documentation, you must use the link to the eDialog form “Svar på denne forsendelsen”, which is included in your letter.

When you use this response link, your question or document will be linked directly to your case. This also speeds up processing.

If you need help with logging into, navigating, delegating authority or other user-related tasks in Altinn, you must contact Altinn’s user service: www.altinn.no/en/help or call tel. 75 00 60 00.

If you have questions about digital mail from the Labour Inspection Authority, please call our directory at tel. 73 19 97 00 (option 2).

When can I call?

  • Weekdays 09:00–15:00
  • Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: Closed

The term of appeal for decisions begins to run when the first notice from the Labour Inspection Authority that the decision is available, is issued. This means when you receive notice via e-mail or SMS that you have received a letter from us.

You will be notified again if you have not opened the letter in 7 days, but the term of appeal begins to run when the first notice is issued.

When you have received notice that you have received a letter, it is your responsibility to read it.
